Frequently asked questions — full answers

General Questions

What is BullionPulse for?
BullionPulse helps physical bullion owners track coins, bars and precious-metals holdings across gold, silver, platinum and palladium. It combines portfolio valuation, buy and sell records, FIFO-based realised P&L, multi-currency views, reporting and export features.
Is BullionPulse a trading or brokerage app?
No. BullionPulse is a portfolio tracking and record-keeping app. It does not provide brokerage execution, trading recommendations, investment advice or performance predictions.
Does BullionPulse track ETFs, paper gold or crypto?
BullionPulse is positioned specifically around physical precious-metals ownership. Its launch positioning is coins, bars and precious-metals holdings rather than paper instruments, ETFs, crypto or generic assets.
Do I need an account?
No account is required in the launch version. BullionPulse is local-first, meaning portfolio data is stored on the device rather than requiring a mandatory cloud account.

Portfolio Tracking and Realised P&L

Can I record both purchases and sales?
Yes. Free users can track holdings, buy transactions, sell transactions, transaction history, Sale Detail screens and individual sale realised P&L.
How does BullionPulse calculate realised profit and loss?
BullionPulse uses FIFO lot matching and per-sale realised P&L. It is positioned as a realised-profit tracker, not only as a valuation screen.
What is FIFO?
FIFO means "first in, first out". For a disposal, the earliest eligible purchase lots are matched first so the app can calculate the realised result for the sale.
Does BullionPulse show sale provenance?
Yes. Sale Detail records can retain sale provenance information, including captured FX details where relevant and deferred-sale context.

Currencies and Market Data

Which metals are supported?
Gold, silver, platinum and palladium.
Can I view my portfolio in multiple currencies?
Yes. BullionPulse supports base-currency portfolio valuation, and Premium supports up to two additional display currencies.
What happens if I sell in another currency?
BullionPulse is designed to capture the sale-time FX rate, date, source and provider for mixed-currency sale handling so the result can be recorded honestly in the base currency.
Are prices real time?
BullionPulse shows live spot prices with delay-aware labels. It does not imply tick-level, brokerage or execution-grade market data.

Statements, Reporting and Export

What statements are available?
The canonical reporting suite consists of Profit & Loss Statement, Performance P&L and Portfolio Statement.
Can I export reports?
PDF and Excel export are Premium features available with an active subscription.
Does BullionPulse support tax-year reporting?
Yes. Tax-year reporting is part of the Premium reporting and tax layer. It should be understood as record keeping, not tax advice or a filing guarantee.
Can free users see reporting value before upgrading?
Yes. Free users can open the Statements section and see preview information, including Net Realised P&L, transaction count and deferred-transaction count, plus the headline Performance P&L figure.

Alerts and Calculator

Are price alerts included?
Free users can set up to two price alerts. Premium unlocks unlimited price alerts.
Are portfolio-value alerts included?
Portfolio-value alerts are Premium features.
Will alerts arrive as push notifications in the background?
No. In the launch version, alerts are evaluated only while the app is open. They are in-app alerts you will see when you open the app, not background push notifications.
Is there a metals calculator?
Yes. BullionPulse includes a metals calculator as a supporting feature for quick value checks.
